The auspicious appearance of Srimati Radharani is celebrated with much grandeur. This occasion falls 15 days after the festival of Janmashtami. Radhastami is a very special day for all the Gaudiya Vaishnavas, as by obtaining the mercy of Srimati Radharani one can easily achieve Krishna-prema. Shrmati Radharani is Krishna’s dearest devotee and His pleasure potency.
We worship Srimati Radharani as the bestower of devotional service to Lord Krishna, by attentively chanting Her names in the Hare Krishna Maha-mantra, by worshiping her Deity form, and by following Her instructions. Without first getting the mercy of Srimati Radharani it is impossible to even approach Lord Krishna.
At BGIS, on the auspicious occasion of Radhastami, a new outfit was offered to Lord Jagannath and Radha Madhav and the temple hall was profusely decorated with flowers and garlands. Srimati Radharani’s glories were narrated in the morning Bhagavatam class by HG Radhakant prabhu.
A maha-abhisheka was performed with a variety of ingredients and many colorful flowers. Students recited Brahma Samhita while Abhishek was going on. This created a scared atmosphere all around.
Our director Lila Purushottam prabhu was also present in this auspicious occasion and inspired our students and staffs to do fasting for the pleasure of Srimati Radharani.
HG Narayani Mataji, the principal of BGIS has performed melodious bhajan and kirtan.
All other devotees have prepared elaborate bhoga varieties along with many sweet dishes, pastries, and cakes to offer Srimati Radharani with great love and devotion. After the bhoga is offered, a maha-arati was performed. Devotees kept fasting till noon and honor prasadam in the afternoon by remembering the glories of Srimati Radharani.
Students performed some cultural programs in the evening depicting the pastimes of Srimati Radharani.
Radhashtami is a spiritually powerful day to connect with Srimati Radharani and invoke Her blessings. We can pray to Her to help us purify our hearts of all material desires and bless us to engage in unconditional and unmotivated devotional service to Krishna.
