Independence Day celebrations at Bhakti vedanta Gurukula and International School

The essence of patriotic feelings and power of devotion towards the Lord was revived when Bhaktivedanta Gurukula and International School celebrated Independence Day with great splendour, joy and respect for Mother India, at its premises in Ajhai on August 15 this year. With the whole nation, it stood up to pay homage to all the martyrs who laid down their lives for the motherland.
The celebrations to mark this day commenced with the hoisting of "Tiranga" by the chief guest, HH Ashit Krishna Maharaj from Govardhan ISKCON Ashram. Maharaj is a very senior sanyasi and preaches throughout the world, especially in China. Flag hoisting was followed by a mellow presentation of the National Anthem. The chief guest, in his speech requested the new generation, to not let the sacrifice of our soldiers and martyrs go waste and preach the glories of Bharatvarsha throughout the world. Every word of his speech infused the audience with pride for being the citizens of a nation which has such a glorious past of Vedic culture.
The principal, HG Narayani Mataji, instilled and charged the gathering with patriotic passion and good zeal through her exhilarating speech.
A patriotic song 'Mera Desh Mera Mulak' sung by the English teacher, Ajay Prabhu, stole the viewers' hearts. His amazing, spontaneous and effortless performance enthralled the audience and was highly appreciated by guests and invitees.
An eloquent recitation of self composed poem by Prashant Kumar from grade 8 left and another by a group from primary section left the audience mesmerized. The loud round of applause bore testimony to the strong appeal made by the performance.
Befitting the occasion, the atmosphere was further charged with festivity and vibrancy with a loud Harinam Sankirtan, staged by the students of the secondary section.
School's CAO, HG Radhakant Prabhu highlighted the necessity of freedom from the materialistic mentality, to which the modern civilisation has fallen a prey.
This high spirited celebration came to an end with the vote of thanks by the Vice-principal HG Leela Govind Prabhu.
The function concluded with a melodious Harinam Sankirtan. There is no doubt this celebration will go a long way in generating patriotic mood, promoting love for Bharatvarsha and inspiring high esteem for our rich heritage of spiritual culture.
