BGIS students went on an excursion to Rishikesh and Dehradun.

Students are generally confined to the four walls of a classroom for most of their day. The drudgery and the monotony of the four walls can lead to a stressful learning experience. Thus this special trip which was organized by Gurukula served as a miracle stress buster. The very announcement of a school excursion made students excited and enlivened.

They were altogether 127 Senior grade boys from Grade 8-12 along with other teachers who were guided by Our CAO HG Radhakant Prabhu ji and Our Principal HG Narayani Mataji.

First destination of this excursion trip was Rishikesh~ which is known as the abode of sages that attracts everyone for its spiritual and peaceful ambiance, also for taking a dip for salvation. The glorious attraction of Rishikesh is none other than the great River Ganges herself, running rapidly throughout the city.

Reaching Rishikesh everyone was given an accommodation at Kabhir Chora Ashram. The very next day all went for Ganga Snan. They have also visited Triveni Ghat, which is situated at the bank of River Ganges. This is the confluence point of the three most sacred rivers in Hindu mythology: Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati, this ghat is considered as the most pious among all the other ghats within the vicinity.

After Ganga Snan, students went out for Nagar Sankirtan from Kabhir Chora Ashram. Some special guests have also joined the group, among them were Our Director HG Lila Purushottam Prabhu, HH Vaishnav Maharaj along with some other IIT Students and Professors. In the evening time, there was a special class given by HG Lila Purushottam Prabhu.

After taking a holy dip in the Ganges every day the students relished Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat.
A trip to Rishikesh is definitely incomplete without trekking. So boys were all taken out for trekking through those green meadows and walking those steep pathways to find their exciting destinations!!

Students also did Book Distribution at the bank of River Ganges. Finally, after completion of the Rishikesh trip, the group has left for the next destination Dehradun~ the capital of Uttarakhand and is mostly famous for its greenery.

Students stayed at Agarwal Dharmashala which was near Dehradun ISKCON Temple. There everyone had glorious darshan of Jagganath, Baladev, Subhadra Maharani and Radha Madhav deities In Dehradun students performed Nagar Sankritan and also joined Bhagavat Gita Recitation Program where we had our chief guest Purushottam Vaswa IIS & IPS officer, Dehradun.

There was a special class given by HH Vaishnav Maharaj & HG Lila Purushottam Prabhu narrating the spiritual importance of Dehradun.
Last day students went to Shahastradhara Waterfall~that literally means a thousand-fold spring which is 14 Km from the city of Dehradun. This waterfall cascades through limestone stalactites, making the water rich in sulphur. Everyone relished the senerity and tranquility of this beautiful place.

Finally, on the seventh day the children were asked to pack up and get ready to go back to Gurukula.
This excursion has eventually helped to create a good teacher-student bond, to build self-confidence in each student and wake up their team spirit.

Student's Comments

Hare Krishna,
The trip was fabulous. I enjoyed the Ganga Bath. Also, it was good to have Ganga Bath everyday. Then, there was Neelkanth trekking. It was thrilling and exciting. For me, trekking was the best activity we did in the whole trip. The evening Kirtans were good too. It was nice to see ISKCON Dehradun. I enjoyed swimming in Sahastradhara.
