HDG A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupad’s greatest desire was to spread the chanting of the Holy Names all over the world. To fulfil this desire, the Governing Body Commission (GBC) of ISKCON established World Holy Name Day during Srila Prabhupad’s Centennial in 1996, which along with many other Centennial programs was a tremendous success. The aim of ISKCON’s World Holy Name Festival is to celebrate the holy names and share this treasure worldwide through innovative programs designed to encourage people of all faiths to participate and create auspiciousness globally.
On seeing the tremendous success and potential of this event, in 2008 the GBC resolved the ‘World Holy Name Day’ into ‘World Holy Name Week. This year world holy name week is been celebrated from 17 September ---23 September. Unlike all the ISKCON centers, BGIS Vrindaranyam is also celebrating the festival in its own manner. The Programme was inaugurated on the 17 September in the morning assembly. Beautiful banner was posted on the stage. Few teachers and students of senior grades have shared their views on the importance of the holy name and the middle school boys under the supervision of Anandamayi Gauranga Prabhu presented a beautiful drama which was the showstopper of the day. Evening programme ended with nagarkirtan in Ajhai village by the boys of grade 9 under the supervision o their Ashram teacher.
