Today BGIS has celebrated the divine appearance day of Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati thakur prabhupada with great pomp and vigour. Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura was the spiritual master of ISKCON founder acharya Srila Prabhupada.
The day started with mangal aarti along with special Guru puja program for both Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati thakur and Srila Prabhupada in the big assembly hall. We were very fortunate to have an eminent guest amidst us for celebrating this great event, HG Madhumati Mataji, disciple of HH Gopal Krishna Goswami Maharaj. She was an Ex-academic convenor of BGIS also a Ph.d degree holder. She had an interactive session with the students today on this special event, she specifically mentioned about the qualities of Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati thakur who was know as "Lion Guru" for his fearless and practical way of leading life. He was know as Bimala Prasad Dutt in his early life and from his very boyhood, inspired by his devotee father, lived a strict pious and religious life.
Madhumati mataji beautifully narrated the story of child Bimala prasad during the chariot festival in Puri(his birth place). His house was situated just near the main road through which the chariot used to pass. So when the Chariot was moving it stopped all of a sudden in front of the house where little Bimala Prasad was on the lap of his mother. The chariot of Jagannath stopped and did not move with utmost endeavour of the pulling devotees. The mother of Bimala Prasad took this opportunity and was helped to get up on the chariot for darshan of the deity with her saintly son. Baby Bimala Prasad was then thrown on the lotus feet of Jagannath ji and at once the baby was blessed by the lord as some flowers fell down on the baby from the hands of the deity. After this incidence the chariot began to move and every intelligent person present there could understand that the child Bimala Prasad was not an ordinary one.
