Akshay Tritiya and Chandan Yatra celebration.

Akshaya Tritiya is one of the most holy and auspicious day celebrated by the Hindus across the country. It is believed that anything that commences on this day will always emerge victorious. This day is thus symbolic of good luck, success and fortune gains.
Many other auspicious events that happened on Akshat tritiya are:
1) Draupadi receives inexhaustible Akshay Patra from Suryadev
2) Lord Parshuram Appearance
3) Vyas Dev Maharshi begins to compose Mahabharat from this day of Akshay Tritiya
4) Ganga appears on Earth on the day of Akshay tritiya
5) Badrinath Temple opens up from the day of Akshay Tritiya
6) Sudama, the dear friend of Sri Krishna get mercy of krishna in the form of unlimited wealth
7) Jagannath Ratha Yatra Wooden Cart preparation begins on the day of Akshay Tritiya
8) Chandan Yatra begins from today.
In this very auspicious day we had a special morning Bhagwatam class by HG Radhakant prabhuji, enlightening us with the importance of Akshay tritiya.
This day also marks the beginning of Chandan Yatra, in which the lord is smeared with sandalwood paste due to the scorching heat of the summer season. This Chandan yatra festival is celebrated over a period of 21 days in which the devotees make different arrangements to cool the lord down and want to give him relief from the intense heat. Although the lord is self sufficient and does not require anything, but the devotees taking Krishna to be their life and soul and most beloved friend, they cannot bear the thought of him having to experience the burning sun of the summer, hence they take care of him with so much affection.
In the same way our beautiful deities in BGIS Campus of Lord Jagannath, Baladev and Subhadra Maharani were also smeared with chandan paste from head to toe, incorporated with the love and devotion of the devotees who ground it.
Everyone was extremely overjoyed on this day to see the lords, as their beautiful three bending forms are very visible. Seeing the lord smeared with chandan and decorated with flowers cools the eyes of all and everyone feel tremendous joy in their heart.

During evening deities of Shri Shri Radha Shyamsundar were taken in a long march, put in a boat for ride in Kaliya Krishna garden along with enchanting and melodious kirtan. The Garden was decorated beautifully with flowers.
Their Lordships enjoyed the boat ride a lot. While the boat was circling the pond, devotees from all sides were offering different gifts to the Divine Couple: fruits, various food preparations, flowers etc
Shri Shri Radha Shyam Sundar were offered puja and varieties of food preparations. His Grace Radhakant prabhu sang the bhajan “Radha Krishna prana mora…” Like in the spiritual world, everything is done for Their Lordships’ satisfaction!
The festival ends by distributing delicious maha prasada to everyone present there.
