A Shilanyas ceremony was held in the newly acquired land of 60 acres for setting up a new campus for the Baktivedanta Gurukul and International School (BGIS) on 2nd May 2014, the very auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya.
The ceremony was blessed by HH Gopal Krishna Maharaj. Sri Santosh yadav (senior IAS) graced the occasion as the chief guest along with the renowned industrialists Smt. Meera Goyal and Sri. Peeyush Goyal. The day started with land sanctification followed by auspicious ceremony of Go Puja. After performing go-puja, the chief guest Mr. Santosh Yadav inaugurated the green house which is meant for developing Vrindaranyam – a botanical garden.
Afterwards an elaborate fire yagna ceremony was held to invoke the blessings of Lord Krishna. The program was attended by many important guests including our gurukul staff and students. The whole arena resounded with exuberant Kirtans performed by our Gurukula students.
Following Yajna ceremony, the chief guest Sri Santosh yadav initiated the foundation stone laying ceremony. Later several of the guests enlightened the audience on the need and importance of Gurukula project. Gopal Krishna Maharaja assured everybody that the first phase of Gurukula campus will be completed by April 2016 so that the present gurukula can be shifted to the new campus.
Program concluded with an awesome Gotipuo (a traditional odissi dance) performance by our junior gurukulis, and delicious prasadam feast.
Overall the program had an engaging and lasting impression in the hearts of those who witnessed the shilanyas ceremony. We are quite hopeful that by the blessings of Srila Prabhupada, the project will be completed in time.
